Challenge

Challenge

As data volumes increased across multiple applications and departments, ensuring consistent access to and use of data across the organisation became more complex.

The client needed to better integrate information from different sources and support a more consistent approach to data usage, while maintaining strict governance, security, and compliance standards required in the financial sector.

Solution

Solution

We partnered with the client to support the development of a centralised approach to data management, enabling a more consistent access to and use of data across the organisation.

Working together with the client, we contributed to shaping a data platform combining data lake and data warehouse principles on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), supporting both operational and analytical needs.

Through close collaboration and continuous alignment with business requirements, the teams ensured that the approach integrates with existing systems and supports more consistent data usage across departments.

Impact

Impact

The solution supports a more consistent and structured way of working with data across the organisation, helping reduce manual effort and improve accessibility for business users.

By enabling more reliable access to centralised data, it contributes to more efficient reporting processes and supports faster access to relevant insights.

Automation plays a key role in streamlining data processes and supporting compliance requirements, while standardised workflows provide greater transparency in how data is managed and used.

Project Overview

The project started with a joint effort to understand the client’s data landscape and business priorities, in the context of a continuously growing data volume across multiple systems and departments.

Working together with the client, the team helped evaluate multiple architectural options and cloud providers for a Data Lake, taking into account operational efficiency, scalability, and regulatory requirements. Google Cloud Platform (GCP) was selected as the technical foundation for the solution.

By progressing through phased deployments, the teams were able to refine processes step by step based on feedback, while maintaining a balance between delivery pace, quality, and reliability.

Close collaboration between Accesa and the client’s teams supported the development of solutions aligned with both technical requirements and day-to-day business needs. This contributed to a platform that supports more consistent data management across departments, including standardised data flows, reduced manual effort, and increased use of automation in routine data processing to support reporting activities.

Governance and security were addressed throughout the implementation, including environment separation, project-specific encryption keys, and access controls aligned with the client’s requirements.

Ten use cases are currently operational, reflecting the platform’s ability to scale and support different data needs across the organisation, while contributing to day-to-day data management activities.

Results

The cloud solution supports more consistent data management and provides a scalable foundation for ongoing analytics and reporting needs. The centralised, standardised architecture allows a more efficient reporting, helping reduce complexity in data preparation and enabling analysts to work with data more reliably in tools such as Tableau and Dataiku.

In practice, this improves access to relevant data across teams, contributing to better knowledge sharing and more informed day-to-day decision-making.

Costs are better controlled through cloud scalability, allowing processing capacity to adapt to demand and reducing the need for on-premises infrastructure investments. Additional optimisation measures, such as micro-batching and efficient workload distribution, support operational efficiency while maintaining performance.

Security, regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and internal governance are supported through strict access control and separated development, testing, and production environments. Project-specific encryption keys safeguard sensitive information, while detailed data lineage and traceability allow the reconstruction of any data processing step.
